The Ultimate Plan

We decided on April 18, 2015 to be the day that we would attempt, and hopefully complete, the “Ultimate Magic Kingdom Touring Plan”.

On this day, the Magic Kingdom would be open from 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM. Without Extra Magic Hours, we knew that this wouldn’t be easy, but Sam had a plan. She worked diligently to schedule our entire day from open to close. There was no room for bathroom breaks, no room for food, no room for error. To prepare for the day, we made sure to pack our bags with the necessities: PB&J sandwiches, point-and-shoot camera, selfie stick, extra copies of the attractions list, sunscreen, external USB chargers, and of course our cell phones.

The weather reports worried us. They predicted rain from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, the exact span of time that included multiple Core Attractions that could easily be rained out. If the Flag Retreat at 5:00 PM was canceled due to rain, no matter how many other attractions we would’ve completed, we would fail the challenge. We needed Mother Nature to be on our side, and in Florida, that’s a lot to ask for.

Luckily for us, one Core Attraction was down for maintenance that day, the Jungle Cruise. Per the rules, if a Core Attraction is down due to a scheduled maintenance, we do not have to worry about completing it. On the flip side, if an attraction goes down mid-day and we had yet to experience it, we fail the entire challenge.

With Sam’s master plan and a lot of luck on our side, victory could be ours…
